In May of 2009 Jim signed with Dattner Dispoto and Associates, one of Hollywoods most prestigious talent agents. Spots of note lately have been a combination of live action, tabletop and VFX. Budlite Lime for Stardust, Budlite Wheat for Brand New School, and a spot for Tablemountain casino featuring winners celebrating in super slow mo with the phantom HD camera.
In August Jim took over the DP reins from fellow cinematographer Marco Fargnoli (due to a scheduling conflict), for The Make A Film Foundation project Deep Blue. Shot on red on location and green screen at Sony studios, written by and starring Clay Beabout, as well as famed actor Sean Astin and Directed By Patricia Cardoso.
Jim continues his responsibilities as chairman of the Local 600 ECA Awards, ushering in a new crop of great films and emerging Cinematographers. This years event, held on Sept 13, 2009 at the DGA in Hollywood, was a complete success with a packed house and the ECA unveiling their new iconic trophy. All the winning films will be shown at this years Camerimage.
According to Jim he can now add journalist to his resume, completing his 10th published article this past fall. Jim is a regular contributing writer for both HDvideoPro and Local 600 ICG magazine. Of late he is contributing a section on High Speed Photography for the upcoming Visual Effects Society handbook.
